Education at a Crossroad: A Personal View

As a result of my autobiography that was published 13 years ago, I was invited to Phoenix June 11-13, 2026, to present at the 57 Annual conference of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools Programs (ACBSP).

This conference was eye opening as I percieved a battle emerging between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the educational classroom, with the students at the center. There were a number of presentations where universities professors discussed how they are trying to deal with AI and maintain an environment of trust among the students. Presentations like this:

"Teaching Students to Use AI Responsibly: A Practical Approach"

"Bridging the New Knowing-Doing Gap: Cognitive Readiness in the Age of AI"

"Leading in an AI Energized Environment"

"AI as a Quality Accelerator, Not a Threat"

all seem to have a theme of, "AI is here and we will have to deal with it in the university educational system."

The presentations revealed that professors are working hard to try and hold up education as AI come at them hard. But sitting in these sessions, I wondered if as AI become more dominant, will education as we have known start to show visible evidence of its fragile foundation as work is being done to try and keep it going.

Participating in the conference was rewarding. The questions posed to me from a number of Deans and the increase in book sales since leaving Phoenix, have caused me to resurrect my Blog and continuing to share perspectives and wisdom based on my 50 years of experience engaged inside and outside of the education system.

Time will tell, and will show, the impact the AI revolution will have on our way of life on many fronts, education being just one.
